Introduction

Trainers

reduce poverty by harnessing the power of sport

In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, Labour and Welfare, we launched the Favela Street Kòrsou programme at the beginning of 2019. One of the ministry’s goals was to reduce poverty by harnessing the power of sport. In response, Favela Street designed a personal development programme for young people (aged 15–30) from various neighbourhoods.

The group was intentionally mixed-gender, encouraging participants to learn from each other and consider different perspectives.

They quickly formed a close-knit community and felt safe to open up. The programme guided them through self-reflection, goal-setting, organising sports activities, and more. We also connected them with mentors and guest speakers aligned with their personal ambitions, expanding their networks and inspiring them to pursue their goals.
